| Any tips on how to cull shrimp in a large heavily planted tank? Posted: 06 May 2019 06:10 PM PDT I have a 100 gallon that is 2 feet from substrate to water surface and heavily planted. Is there any tips to cull? like having a tube continuously drain water into a bucket and suck the culls out instead of using a net? [link] [comments] | ||

| Where did YOU get your shrimp? Posted: 06 May 2019 02:36 PM PDT I'm wondering where everyone gets there shrimp, as I've really only heard of a few places online where most people get their shrimp. I personally got my colony of red rilis from aquarium creation for $35 for 10+1 and $16 shipping in California. I also picked up a couple of blue dreams from the local petco and they just had a batch of nice and dark blue babies. The shrimp were $7.50 EACH, but they were healthy and decent quality. | Breeding Cherry Shrimp with wide temperature ranges Posted: 06 May 2019 04:37 PM PDT Hi all =) I typically work from home and I have built a 5 gal tank. Currently, there are 6 red cherry shrimp inside and 1 ghost. I'd like to maintain the parameters to start creating a colony. However, the room I work in has poor insulation and the temperature changes are fairly dramatic throughout the day. For example, the past couple days the inside of the room has reached 64 degrees fahrenheit in the evening to 75 degrees in the afternoon. The shrimps have still been surviving and molting fairly well from my observations. I'm wondering given the temperature changes throughout day, will this not be conducive to starting a colony? By the way, I have checked other parameters necessary for allowing cherry shrimp to thrive. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] | ||

| best substrate for neocaridina davidi? Posted: 06 May 2019 01:56 PM PDT hi! my SO recently upgraded her betta to a 5g tank and she's giving me the old 2.5g, which i've decided to turn into a nano tank. i have found a lot of conflicting sources including within this sub on what substrate is best for my red cherry shrimp (or whatever color i get, im gonna wait until after my tank is cycled to decide.) my biggest priority is the shrimp's welfare, but ease of cleaning and plant health are important too. if it's also pretty and affordable that would be amazing! from what i'm reading an inert substrate is best for neos but i'm not sure. if u could point me to a specific product to buy that would be amazing :) [link] [comments] |
