| Sump question for new build. New to sumps and reefs. Posted: 15 May 2019 07:53 PM PDT I'm laying out my plans for my build and I think I've narrowed it down to a 35g Cube w/ overflow and a sump. What size sump would one want to accommodate a 35g cube? I'm debating building a sump vs buying one and building a custom stand for the whole setup. Thanks for the help. I'm new and trying to get a grasp on the whole sump thing. [link] [comments] | ||

| Anemone compatibility? (Bubble and flower) Posted: 15 May 2019 09:08 PM PDT I am wanting to move my rock flowers over to my 40 gallon and make it just a nem tank with flowers and bubbles for my maroon clowns and use my other tank to break up this rock save what corals I have and dose aiptasia x as needed. I ask for a couple reasons another being I'd like to keep my rhodactis with just zoas and other shrooms. Had one wonder into a nems oral disk and the thing just melted. Both. Has anyone mixed rock flowers and bubbles in the same tank before? [link] [comments] | ||

| Looking for some advice on tank lighting for a deeper than average tank Posted: 15 May 2019 05:33 PM PDT Hi, I currently have a 150g that I'm running 3 x 360WE Tuna Blue Kessels for lighting. The tank is 30" deep and I'm hoping to get some advice from others with deeper thanks. The Kessils do an alright job but I still have a lot of darker areas. My question to you would be out of all the lighting options which would you go with if you had a similar tank (48" x 24" x 30") Keep the Kessils and supplement with something else or wholesale change? Thanks! [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 15 May 2019 05:22 PM PDT I'm moving livestock from what could be considered a "learning tank" to a display tank. I have a 1.5" mandarin, and I have no clue how to catch it. A fish trap only catches my clowns. Am I going to have to drain the tank to corner the mandarin? [link] [comments] | ||
| Has anybody here had any success with garden eels? Posted: 15 May 2019 10:03 AM PDT I've been fascinated with garden eels for a long while now (a recent post reminded me of them), and have always wanted to own some in a specialised tank in the future. I must say that I DO NOT intend to add them to my current reef tank (as it's not suitable). I am also aware that they are very difficult to keep and often die during shipping, as they aren't provided with the correct conditions. Q: Has anybody on this sub had an experience with owning garden eels, whether it's a good experience OR bad? I'd be interested to here from you. Thanks. [Edit: Grammar] [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 15 May 2019 12:56 PM PDT I found my crab mangled and dead on the sand. He resides in my bubble tip anemone pretty much a 100% of the time. I've seen my black clownfish who inhabits the same anemone try to whip him with his tail and throw him off in the past. I'm suspecting he's the one that killed the crab but the crabs body was extremely mangled up so I don't know if the clownfish could have done that. The tank only has 3 fairly small clown fish, 2 anemone, and some hermit crabs. I've seen some weird worm like things in the sand but I showed my local fish store owner a pic and he said they're harmless. [link] [comments] |
