| Posted: 09 May 2019 06:25 AM PDT Sitting at work and my coworker tells me her daughter wants a fish. I'm already dreading to hear about this. I proceed to tell her that whatever she does not to get a non-fancy goldfish. (She doesn't think anything needs proper care because "they'll be fine") she then tells me how she had a perfectly healthy goldfish that wow! Lived for apparently 5 years and was in a 5gal tank. She thinks all they need is a water change sometimes and food. It died after she did a full water change and I'm pretty sure she used soap to clean its tank. But she did "everything Right" since she used the dechlorinator drops. She's the type that believes she's always right and she talks down to me even though I'm 3 years younger than her. Anyway, I tried talking her out of it but she's getting her daughter a fish this weekend. Will probably end up being a betta in a half gallon jar without filtration or a heater. And she will probably still do full water changes and cleaning the tank with soap. I don't think there's anything I can even do at this point. I hope to god someone at the pet store lets her know she can't keep a common goldfish in a FILTERLESS, 5 GALLON tank and hopefully she listens. But I'm sure they'll tell her she can do whatever she wants. [link] [comments] | ||

| Quick question about sponge filters Posted: 09 May 2019 04:53 PM PDT i'm plannign to set up a intex pool for my 2 little fancy goldfish and two sponge filters (6 liters of sponge total) but i don't know if a 600 gph air pump is maybe too much current for my goldies. Since it's working all day long, wouldn't the air pump cause TOO much oxygen and current? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 09 May 2019 10:02 AM PDT So I know the whole 8-10x tank size to reach the needed GPH criteria. However, I am confused about combining two HOB filters. I am getting a free 55 gallon tank today. Just the other day, I bought another AquaClear 50 for my 20 gallon tank. However, now I am wondering if I need to go out and buy the AquaClear 75, since my tank is bigger. Would the two filters I already have made for 20-50 gallon tanks work in conjunction to filter the tank, or can you not combine two filters to reach the necessary GPH? I hope this question makes sense because I am really concerned I need to spend 50 more dollars to buy a new filter.... [link] [comments] |
