Cloudy axolotl aquarium

Posted: 15 May 2019 08:23 AM PDT

Hi, I am really new to Axolotls and I've only had mine a few days. The water was about 67 degrees Fahrenheit and I put a frozen water bottle on the aquarium to see if it would cool it any more, but now the aquarium is cloudy. I am really worried. I made sure to wipe the bottle off and that there was no water on the outside. What should I do? I do not have any substrate, just some plants and places to hide in. I'd really appreciate any help!!

Continually swimming into wall

Posted: 15 May 2019 04:39 AM PDT

My lot has recently started swimming into the wall, but not just run into and bump it, more like swimming as fast as he can against the wall like he's trying to escape. I've never seen him do it and his water is clean ... does this mean anything

Floating For Almost a Week

Posted: 14 May 2019 01:15 PM PDT

I am looking for advice on how to treat my axolotl. (S)he is a juvenille, about 5 months old. He is behaving normally and showing no signs of stress but he has been floating for almost a week. He is eating normally, but whenever I feed him he fights to swim straight to the bottom and seems frustrated that he is floating. I have been feeding him sinking pellets and bloodworms since I got him about a month and a half ago. Should I be concerned about him floating for so long? I don't think he is constipated because he has been pooping as frequently as he always has (once every 2-3 days) so I don't see why he would be floating. The water parameters are all fine, and there's nothing in his tank that is bigger than the substrate that he could have eaten.

Should I be concerned or should I just leave him? Is his diet okay? Should I try fridging him? I heard that it would help but also to only do it as a last resort. Is there anything else I can do to help him? I've also heard of putting him in a tub with shallower water to keep him from getting to stressed. He has a little fake aquarium log in his tank that he likes to hide in so he can't float to the top. Please let me know if you have any advice or are able to share your experience with floating. Thanks!

One chiller, two tanks. Advice?

Posted: 14 May 2019 01:44 PM PDT

I'm going to be seperating my lotls soon since they keep making eggs and I don't want to worry about my girl's health. I however only have one filter and one chiller. I'm wondering if there's a way to run it without buying another filter and chiller set.
