- The babies love their brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, bloodworm dinner! (Don’t panic, input a bunch of food in and then do a 100% water change everyday to keep amonia at 0.) I’ve had no issues with cannibalism feeding this way. Have about 20-30 per a container.

- Sweetpea’s first worm(piece)!! Please excuse me not being able to pick up the worm and me having Legacies playing in the background

| Posted: 06 May 2019 10:33 AM PDT So I'm thinking about introducing a colony of shrimp to my 5 inch long boy's tank for him to snack on, any reccomendations for what type/how to go about it? I've never kept shrimp before [link] [comments] | ||

| Opinion on air stones (also a question about food size) Posted: 05 May 2019 05:49 PM PDT Heya guys. I'm a brand new axolotl parent. I just bought my leucistic baby, Barnabas, home today after almost 3 years of putting off getting one because I was afraid of not being able to keep the tank cool (tank is currently 64.4°F whew). It's about 3 inches, needs to fatten up a little and absolutely adorable. Unsure of sex yet. First question re: airstone/bubble disk. I'm running a hang on back filter and a sponge filter in a 20g right now as I plan on upgrading the tank size eventually. I have the HOBs output baffled using a water bottle, same as I did for my betta tank. But I also put a bubble disk in. I thought it would be good to help oxygenate and keep the tank cool by increasing surface area yadda yadda. Axolotl doesn't look stressed any (gills are fine) but it does look as though its struggling to swim against the current. Should I remove the bubble disk? Second question re: food size. I don't know what it was eating at the breeders and I don't know why I haven't thought of this before, but I attempted to feed it thawed blood worm cube from a turkey baster tonight and it didn't work as well as I had hoped. Axie got a few but most fell. It picked up some of the leftovers but an hour later I had to clean it all out. Is there an easy way to feed blood worms? Or, would switching to a cut up night crawler be better and/or easier to feed? Tl;dr 2 questions. 1) is a bubble disk and a sponge filter too much current? 2) is there an easier way to feed bloodworm cubes or should I switch to night crawlers (or something else)? (Will probably x-post this) [link] [comments] |
