My axolotls just scared me.

I have a 40 gallon tank with 3 female axolotls in it. (using the 20 gallons for first, 10 for each additional rule) and it is currently undergoing some redecorating. My boyfriend just started a new job so our plans our unfortunately slightly delayed so we added an old flowerpot hide that we purposely broke then sanded the edges.

I was sitting in my chair watching my goobers while playing Final Fantasy and noticed my golden albino, Banana, flopping around in the flower pot and trying to rest almost vertically and her tail was crimped like she was stressed. I tried to look inside but I could not see what was causing her distress so I called my sleeping boyfriend to come down and take a look.

When he came downstairs, my melanoid, Toothless, pops her head out of the pot beside Banana's tail like "hey Dad! Hows you?" but it seemed to calm down their little spat about the hide.

I guess my question in this case is do you intervene in these spats or let them sort it out for themselves? Both large axols are about a year old, roughly the same size, and are definitely female.

Jungle monsters must be avoided at all costs. Unless you have worms. Then you are granted safe passage.

This spot on my axolotl’s head has only appeared today. Any clue as to what it might be? It looks as if it’s an indent maybe

Spitting worms

Posted: 04 May 2019 09:03 PM PDT

One of my two axolotls has been spitting his worms, the water parameters are fine, and he eats them at first, but typically he spits them out a day later? I'm a bit worried about him. What can I do, if anything? The other axolotl in the tank has been eating perfectly fine and seems to be very healthy.

Looking for a little advice here. Falcor has no interest in food for a week. Won’t come out of his cave (I lifted it for this picture). Does the black spot by his legs look like impaction? It covered more of his belly before but it has all stopped right there. He hasn’t pooped in a week either.
