Help! My baby axie swallowed quite a bit of sand about a week ago and it is still in his system. I was told this substrate would be fine, but it appeared to have clumped inside of him. I have seen him pass a few grains but this is what he currently looks like.

My axolotl has a fungus and this is my first time, I've done tea baths (1 a day for the last 3 days) and 30% water changes in his filtered (sponge) tank. The first day and third day I did water changes. He is hardly eating and won't eat pellets or wigglers but will eat a little blood worms.

Need advice on my Juvenile- Nitrite poisoning? My Juvenile hasn't eaten in 3-5 days. Refusing frozen blood worms.

My friend is a biology student who ended up taking too many axolotls- I keenly agreed to take one as they are so lovely - someone who had never seen one, I went and got a tank and filter ect the day before I got him. I'd never kept tropical fish (though I'd seen my dad do it when I was a small child.) So I knew nothing of tank cycling, the nitrogen cycle and axolotl health. I studied hard- and I do understand so much more but I wish I'd been better educated and prepared because now my friend is sick. Possibly?

I had always no ammonia /.25 as I've been treating the tank with a cycle mix but always quite present nitrates 1-3ppm. Nitrate around 20. I used the strips which I discovered today are pretty awful as I have been testing the water with a master water kit.

Lancelot, my axolotl is about 2 inches long. Around 4 months old. He was a finicky eater to begin with but soon picked up eating a cube of blood worms a day plus live brine shrimp and some live blood worms. I tried lots of different foods.

I noticed the other day food left untouched. I took it out and replaced the water to drop nitrite levels- thinking a nitrite and ammonia remover would protect my axolotl.

He also may have eaten a bioball I left in the tank - the disolvable ones you put in the filter. As I couldnt find it and they're essentially invisible. Axolotl was huge next day and then he wasn't. So I'd assumed it had disolved- would this have made him sick? I doubt it but still.

So he wasn't eating. He was going to surface for air regularly. And seemed stressed. One gill was swept forward but the rest back I felt alarmed so did a water changes and brought the temperature down to 16 degrees c. (sorry I am not sure what this is f)

After another day, I thought it must be sick and I need to cycle it without him in there. So he is living in the box he came in and having water changes. 2 days later he still will not eat any blood worm frozen or live-if he does he blows it back out and spits it away .... but he will touch some live blood shrimp and then ignores the rest.

The tank I am continuing to cycle ammonia is at 0. Nitrite is at 5ppm! (I'm just leaving in old axolotl poos sorry I know gross and some uneaten bloodworm) and nitrate was at 60ppm. I did a 50 percent water change though now I'm wondering if that was helpful - I read another forum saying fishless cycle there is no need to change water. I then dosage the water with the cycle kit 1ml every other day per 36l. I have a 30 l tank.

Should I dose the tank with more uneaten food? Or just wait?

My axolotl has uneaten brine shrimp and blood worm. I am concerned as most enthusiasts say blood worm is the favourite. My axolotl looks insulted - the pets at home blood worm was brownish not bright red- will not touch live red blood worm either. I assume it's not tasty. I have ran out of live brine shrimp but they're so tiny.

Any advice on what I should do. He is quite energetic- swimming around / sitting just won't eat. I am just worrying non stop taking over my life!
