| Posted: 08 May 2019 12:33 PM PDT So I've had my mystery snail since late October. She's been by herself the entire time. In February, she laid a clutch of eggs that I ended up getting rid of. I read that snails can mate and then store it for months so I assumed that was what happened there. On Monday night, she laid another clutch. For the past 7 months I've had her, she has had no access to a male. How likely is it that this clutch is fertile? I'm interested in trying to keep part of the clutch and keeping some babies. I'm just curious about the likelihood of it being fertile because 7 months seems like a pretty long time, especially after she already laid the first clutch 3 months ago. [link] [comments] | ||
| My mystery snail died today. Did I do something wrong? Posted: 08 May 2019 04:02 AM PDT He seemed fine for over two weeks since I got him AMD places him in my community tank with a docile betta and a few Cory's. Then he stopped moving for a while but didn't seem dead just inactive or something cuz he was opening and shutting his trapdoor to his shell a lot. Then this morning I thought maybe he moved again finally and was back to normal cuz I found him on the rock this time but he was awkwardly swaying with the current of the water. About 30 seconds of watching him do that, he floated to the top and I gota good look inside his shell. He was covered in this nasty film and was starting to bloat up. So his environment was plantless and has a couple of Cory's and 1 Male betta. The water tests seem ok and I checked the food for the fish and no copper in it. Anything else I should check?
