First-Timer/Getting Started

Hello!

I follow this sub because I think snails are so cool and I have wanted to own a fish tank for some time. So I thought, why not have the best of both worlds and get started with aquatic snails?

I have never owned snails before. What should I do to get started/ what supplies do I need. What is some important info for a newcomer like me? Additionally, what is the best type of snail for a newcomer to start with?

Anyone know what’s wrong with this ramshorn? Shell is kinda white and looks brittle.

Just found a slimy sac with what looks like eggs in it on some floating hornwort in my tank. I have mystery snails, a betta, and an invasion of pond snails. Are these pond snail eggs?

Are there any snails that won't try to escape my tank?

The hood of my tank has some holes for wires and such and I'm worried if I get snails they'll escape. Planning on getting either nerites or ramshorns and mystery snails.

Floating Snail

Hey how's it going all! I had just recently purchased my first mystery snail and have noticed that it will sometimes just float at the top of the tank. I have seen him moving around on the glass and along the bottom of the tank. Is this normal behavior or is this something that I should be worried about?
