Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:02 PM PDT Today I rescued 3 Goldfish that were previously mine. First, I have some details about the fish. Goldfish 1: Blood red, about 7 Inches long. I think it's a Comet, very beautiful. Eyes are slightly clouded. Goldfish 2: Orange, about 5-6 Inches. This one appears to be just a standard Common. The biggest problem with him is the large tumor on his head, it's huge. I have no idea how long it has been there. Goldfish 3: White with red eyes. Standard Common, the most lively, has no apparent problems. These Goldfish were purchased by me about 6 years ago in a Walmart. I was 9 years old when I got them. Kept them in a 60 gallon tub and wanted to attempt breeding. Never happened, we ended up moving, so I gave them to my aunt. Now about 5 years later, she wants to get rid of her pond. Her initial plan was to just dump the poor guys out into a creek behind the house. I assumed this was probably a bad idea and took them home with me. I keep other tanks so I have plenty of equipment around the house, I had a pretty solid plan and it just failed on me. Was going to set up a 40gallon and find homes/sell them. 40 gallon is fine, but my canister filter decided that today would be the day it dies and no longer works :/ . Now I have no reliable filtration. Moved the Goldfish onto the Pool cover (filled with water and houses some tadpoles and 1-2 mosquito fish), but today is also the day my dad decided to drain the cover. So here I am with 3 goldfish, and a slowly draining water supply. Any good ideas to keep them alive until my parents will let me go to the store? I would hate to lose them :( . [link] [comments]
Just rescued a goldfish from a seriously horrible situation, any hope at all? Posted: 07 Apr 2019 03:38 PM PDT Crosspost from r/aquariums Okay so long story short I like not even an hour ago rescued what's probably about a 1 pound goldfish from a family who couldn't take care of it, it was in a five gallon tank, no filter, clearly overfed, and probably hadn't had a water change in weeks maybe even months just judging by the lack of water and lines of grime on the tank, has major mouth rot and was suffering from some bad ammonia toxicity. I still have it in the same 5 gallon but wiped down and with some new gravel from my other tanks, clean water, and medicine. Both of my tanks I currently have are tropical so I don't want to risk stressing him out more there and I won't be able to get another tank or even a filter for about a week. I know it's not ideal but it's better than what it was in before, but is there any other ways I can raise my chances of success, or is it a lost cause? [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Apr 2019 05:18 AM PDT Hi all, I have a 160 gal marine I'm converting to goldfish. I'm still shutting it down but I've got big plans for this tank. Ideally high filtration and water changes every 2 weeks. It has a 4 foot sump and a uv sterilizer. Might look to add more filter to cut down on water changes? Though fresh water is sooo easy. How would I approach stocking levels? I want fancies only, including pearlscales, telescope eyes, lionheads, ranchus, orandas and ryukins. I'm gonna feed them repashy gold, hikari pellets and frozen blood worms. Bare bottom with river pebbles (not gravel all over the base, bigger stones that look nice) and plants, duck weed on the surface (for them to eat!) And I'm gonna have a bubble curtain all along the back (6 feet long). Some places say 20 gal each, others say 20 for the first plus 10 each fish. I was thinking about 10-12? Thanks for any input. My Goldfish seems super Erratic Posted: 07 Apr 2019 12:31 PM PDT I can't afford a tank but I don't want my fish to feel so anxious all the time and my previous fish lived long lives in the fish bowl with proper care and feeding What should I do? What do you think is wrong with him? He seems super anxious and I'm worried for his health Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
