This is a video of Orion checking out his home when I first got him. 10 gallon heated cycled and filtered with a mystery snail and live plants so no one yells at me.

Recently rescued this beauty and I'm worried he has popeye. I've never had a betta before, is this how their eyes usually look?

Old Greg had to lose his plants.. and now he has to have salt baths. Fin rot can be a pain to keep off.. I dont think he's pleased.

Where to get my new betta?

Posted: 17 Apr 2019 11:24 AM PDT

To sum up my dilemma: I'll be moving into a new apartment soon, and I've been waiting until I have my own place to get a betta (I currently live in a dorm and don't have sufficient space for a good-sized tank). However, the town I'm moving to is very small, and only has Walmart and PetSmart as places to buy bettas. While I know one person can't make a big difference, I don't want to support the inhumane ways these two chains treat their fish. Luckily my hometown has a pet store that treats their bettas comparatively well - their containers are slightly bigger than the cups used at PetSmart or Walmart, and the water is filtered. My main concern is this - the car ride is about an hour and a half from my hometown to my college town, and I'm concerned that the travel will cause my new friend distress. I would have the tank set up and ready to go before picking him up, but would he be okay to travel that far? And how can I make the ride more comfortable? Sorry if this seems silly or rambling. My last betta's health seemed to go downhill after traveling that distance from my dorm to my hometown, so I just want to get an opinion from more experienced owners before going through with this.

Excuse me trying to move to get a better angle. This is what Ramsay does when you put the Betta Bio Gold packer (with pic of another Betta) up to his glass. Love that flair.
