Plan on getting one in the summer. Does anyone have any basic advice or anything they wish they knew before hand?

I also plan on doing bare bottom or sand, not sure which one yet!

Help?

Posted: 13 Apr 2019 08:27 AM PDT

I am thinking of getting another axolotl. I am sorry for my mistakes. If I fix my mistakes would it be acceptable to get another axolotl? I know they aren't just toys, and you cannot just replace them and toss them around like trash. I have learned from my mistakes. Should I get another? I am sorry to everybody who I lashed out at.

Does your Axolotl stay still a lot?

Posted: 12 Apr 2019 02:07 PM PDT

Hello! I'm Parker, and I just got my first Axolotl, the day I got him he hid behind some plants, which is normal, as he's 2 inches, and very new to a tank. It's just the 2nd day I've had him now, he's eaten every day so far. (Cut up Earth Worms) and he loves it. His food is on a big flat rock, so he can't accidentally ingest sand. Anyways, it may just be the fact he's getting used to a new tank still, but he loves to just sit in one spot............and just stay there, very slow head movements sometimes, and the occasional switch of places, but that's about it. His tail is straight and lungs look very healthy. Is this normal? Thanks so much for reading.

Plants

So I'm looking to set up a tank here soon to then aquire one of these adorable buggers. I was curious on who uses live plants in the tank and what kind. How did you set it up? From my research ima need to put them on drift wood and hope they take root. Itll be my first time owning live plants and an axolotl. Ive kept fish before but i dont wanna inadvertantly hurt the lil guy or cause damage to the tank.

Would you say this sand is safe for axolotl? I’m using it for juvenile bichir and African cichlids...

help with my axolotl please!

Hello, my axolotl is a few months old, it's almost 6 cm long, and its floating sideways

like it floats like this : /

and it turns upside down way more often and it seems to struggle to turn upright when floating, it cant sink to the bottom and is constantly on top of the water floating around the corners of the fish tank

he always spent time turning upside down earlier when he didnt float weirdly, but it seems its harder for it to turn upright again everytime, and most of the time just hangs around upside down

he is still eating and is eating a bit more than normal, but its worrying me a lot that its floating almost sideways and upside down so much! ;_;

anyone know what could be?

there is no water current, it only has an air-provider-thing and a couple of fake plants that he liked to hang in. should i be more worried?
