Lost my last fish and am looking to try Axolotls. This is a 50 gallon tank. I plan to deep clean and redecorate. Would this be too deep? If it’s okay, how many axies could I put in there?

Is there a problem with his gills? There seems to be a white spot on his upper left one. He’s behaving normally, has no tankmates or live plants, and the water parameters are normal (though I have been having a problem with the water turning a little murky)

Are my little guys gills looking okay? Just curious

Is this enough space for him, like not to crowded or anything.

Gill Length

Posted: 08 Apr 2019 07:45 PM PDT

Hi friends!

I work from home and Ozzy is by my side all day, which means I've not noticed that his gills have shortened in recent months. My partner pointed this out and I was going through old photos and now I'm concerned.

Does anybody know what are possible causes: food/water/age (he is at least 5.5 years old, possibly 6)/etc.?

Is it a bad thing? Is it a neutral thing?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Martin

Hopeful parent

Hello everyone. I'm a hopeful axolotl parent going crazy on all of the research. I have a little 3 month old baby named korra coming home within the week. I have a 20 gallon tank, and pages of research. I'm planning on getting an external filter with a spray bar. What advice do you have for a new parent of these cute little guys?

Do you think this tank is OK for 2 and do you think he will be OK as he has not had a tank mate for a year

What is this? It wasn't there when I got him, but he has now had this for about 2 months. Doesn't seem to bother him though.
