Apparently axolotl bites can hurt. Posted: 07 Apr 2019 08:54 PM PDT I have 3 axolotls in one tank. Banana (golden albino), Toothless (melanoid), and Kirby (leucistic and smallest). I had fed Toothless first because she always knows it is feeding time and will come out of hiding for food. Next I tried to feed Kirby who was in a log hide. I had a worm in my hand, and suddenly Toothless, who had already been fed, came along and bit my thumb and it hurt. This was not a "is this food?" bite, this was a "this is food! gimmie!" bite. I had to push her away and she kept snapping at all the plants in the tank because she wanted another worm. It didn't hurt like ow, omg I'm dying, but I could feel her rough little sandpaper teeth in the tip of my thumb and it was definitely an unpleasant experience! [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Apr 2019 08:41 PM PDT Hello! So I am in the works of getting an axolotl I understand that cycling a tank the first time takes a few weeks. Since I'll be moving in a year, how would I give about transporting my axolotl. Could I just take a bucket of his old water and drive with it and my empty tank and then throw it into the new tank location to help speed the process of cycling. And if so how long until I could put my axolotl in there. Any advice helps!! [link] [comments]
Possible to feed juvenile too much? Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:51 PM PDT So lately my 4 inch guy has been finishing his entire daily portion (1/2 cube of bloodworms mixed with 1/3 cube of brine shrimp) and I've been wondering if it would be okay if I started feeding him more. I read some stuff that said to feed them as much as they'll eat as juveniles, is that true? [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Apr 2019 04:30 PM PDT I've had my Axolotls for about 5 or 6 months and i have a 55 gallon tank. I dont use a water cooler because im 17 and cannot afford that, i use water bottles and freeze water and just replace those. I reuse the same sand when i clean the tank (i take out the sand and clean it completely). When i put new water in i use water safe and water clear (to fix the cloudy water) i use 3 bubble filters and the water always stays below 66°F. I know all of this is probably wrong and could get my 2 babys sick, what should i do to make this right? [link] [comments] |
