pump died, help

something happened to the pump in my pond today. the pump seems to be working, and I've tried priming it a few times but I cant get it to suck water.i have a 3000 gallon pond in my backyard that is has a biofilter and pump that cycles the water out over a waterfall for aeration and back into the pond. the pond is about 3 feet deep, and there are 6 koi all about 5-6 inches long. I'm in northern California, it's been around 70 degrees this week, what should i do?
