Brittle Star Spawning

Posted: 07 Mar 2019 08:32 PM PST

Right after a water change we noticed the brittle star community emerge from all the little crevices in the aquascape. Never saw this happen before. We thought we screwed something up, and began testing the water until we notice that they were all just getting down... huge brittle star spawn fest in the 32 Biocube!

Dead Crab

Posted: 07 Mar 2019 07:00 PM PST

I found a dead gorilla crab when I got home from work. This is a new tank, about 2.5 weeks old, all live rock from TBS with a clean up crew. Got home from work and started to inspect things. Crab trap = empty. I see one of the crabs I'm hunting in it's usual spot deep in a hole, I'm just waiting for the weekend to pull the rock out and flush it out. But I notice a dead gorilla crab on the rocks as well. Nothing else is dead, water param are within normal limits, no changes in the tank. I haven't seen any mantis shrimp, but can't rule that out 100%. I did hear a "click" come from the tank last night but nothing was visible. What other scenarios could attribute a dead, intact gorilla crab?

The plot thickens...I found a second dead gorilla crab. And the one hiding doesn't move from light as if it's very afraid to move.
