Just wanted to show off the babies. Our ryokan (the white one) was alone for maybe 2 months and we finally introduced two new friends after they had a 2.5 week quarantine. They get along swimmingly!

Update to Rescued Fish from Yesterday

Posted: 21 Mar 2019 04:05 PM PDT

Hello all!

First, I want to thank everyone again for their wonderful advice. It was unbelievably helpful, and I don't think these two would have survived without it.

I just wanted to offer an update to how they are faring on their first day in their new home (sorry for the quality).

I do plan on getting a new tank once more money comes in, this was a completely unexpected turn of events; especially since we had just adopted two cats three weeks ago. I could not just leave them though.

To u/goldfishgirly, I know you said not to feed them or turn on the light; but, as weird as this may seem, they seemed really sad, and so I decided to experiment with a little bit of food and the light- their mood changed relatively quickly.

It's almost as if they're two different fish. At first, they would not leave each other's side; now, they seem really happy swimming and almost playful (if that makes sense). They almost appear to be brighter!

My girlfriends five-year-old decided to name them Eevee and Charmander, so that is a thing now, haha.

I really empathize with these two. I hope that I can help them live a long and happy life from this point on; they deserve it.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all again; you guys rock! I'm going to keep reading and watching as much as I can to help these two out!

Edit: changed some words.

Really big fan of gravel. What kind for Goldfish tank

Posted: 22 Mar 2019 12:07 AM PDT

Its a 40 gallon, yea i know goldfish love sifting thru it and it can be a hazard but i have always uses gravel. To decrease the odds of this happening should i get finer gravel or thick? And also how many LB for a 40 gallon is nice?

Need to rehome a goldfish in a few weeks- was housing him for a friend temporarily but a 10gallon is too small and she is rehoming others locally. - Illinois, outside of STL
