Arm progress part 2. His deadpool fingers finally started to darken!

Is the redness of his tail something i should be concerned about? I read somewhere that it could mean infection.

Size differences?

Posted: 26 Mar 2019 07:32 PM PDT

This could be a silly question, but are there normally some size discrepancies between lotls? My first boy is a solid 12 inches long. Absolute unit as some people would say. About a year after I got him, I added two (what we were assuming to be) females to a 40 gallon breeder. I would say they're about 7-ish inches? They've grown a smidge since I've gotten them (in October) but nothing remarkable. Is this a normal difference in growth or do they just take a really long time to reach full size? I got my boy as an adult who was probably a year and a half at the time so I'm unsure how fast he grew.

Need Advice about an axolotl i rescued, info below.

Posted: 26 Mar 2019 11:08 AM PDT

So my boyfriend had a friend who owned an axolotl for two years and i had recently just gotten my very own after doing several years of researching/ saving up and was excited to meet someone else who had one. HOWEVER when me and my boyfriend arrived at his friends house we saw that the axolotl was in a filthy tank with no filter whatsoever and was missing fingers. I told his friend i would buy it off of him and i did, cleaned out the tank/treated fresh water/put a filter in, but im worried that his fingers may never regenerate and that he's bloated or has some underlying health issues. I'm going to attach a photo and if i could just get some advice it would be much appreciated
