In the spirit of college basketball and march madness we are running an aquariums march madness tournament of individual species. The tournament mirrors college basketball; 64 total species that go head-to-head in rounds until the winner is crowned at the end of march.

The semi-finals have ended, it's time for the final!

The winner will be declared on the 1st of April.

I am a hobbyist but also work in an aquarium. I'm usually the first in and this is one of my favourite spots to watch from before my shift.

Code 531: Shrimp Homicide in Progress

Posted: 28 Mar 2019 07:20 AM PDT

I recently picked up a used 150G, and that thing was really damn heavy, so I called my best friend and asked for his help bringing it in the house. We got it inside no problem.

But my friend brought along his adorable 3-year-old daughter, who wanted to watch the fish in my living room 65G for a while. She's fascinated by all the fish doing their thing...

Until: "What's that fish doing daddy?" and we immediately notice a ghost shrimp along the gravel, dragging the lifeless body of one of his transparent comrades to Davy Jones' locker.

I know the shrimp probably just died and the other one was scavenging, but I swear this shrimp froze, made eye contact with us, and then after a moment's pause, resumed his grisly task. It truly looked like he'd murdered the other shrimp and we'd caught him hiding the evidence of his ghastly crime.

Adorable 3-year-old is scarred forever.

Can bettas live in a comunity tank

Posted: 28 Mar 2019 03:30 AM PDT

Recently got a 33 gallon tank as an upgrade to my 7 gallon and I was wondering if a Betta could live in my new larger tank. My stocking plans for my new tank are 6 glowlight tetras and a bristlenose plec so far and hopefully the Betta
