I shall call them yin and yang, one pure black with white eyes, and one white with black eyes; caught hanging out in the shady cave of the tank.

Is it bad that I bought a new phone so I can take better pictures of my shrimp?

Is this rust spot disease? In a colony tank, so I am concerned it may be contagious.

Cherry red

What are these small dandelion looking balls in my aquarium. If I poke them they shrink up like its alive? Has anyone seen anything like this. Is it dangerous to shrimp?

What should I plant? 10g low tech, heavy plants

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 05:59 PM PST

I'm going to be planting my 10g this week. I have Carib sea eco substrate, a beamswork 6500k light no co2. Possibly use some liquid fert to help with growth. I currently have HC as my carpet(dry start).

Thanks

What kitchen greens/herbs/spices make good shrimp food?

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 12:22 PM PST

I have heard about kale and spinach, but what other leafy greens or other people food make a good shrimp snack? Parsley? Basil? Bay leaf? Oregano? I'm considering picking up a few seeds and making a small shrimp planter of greens to harvest shrimp food from.

Ghost Shrimp Mortality

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 05:44 PM PST

I bought 20 ghosts for my established 10-gallon betta tank. They were fully acclimated using the drip method.

The betta picked off the small ones, but the big ones did fine for a few days. Then, I began losing one or two a day. I have four left, the biggest ones, with a dead one still down (the others were scavenged). Is this just terrible petstore shrimp genetics, stress, or something else? My goad is to get blue dreams in there, but not until I know what's going on in the tank.

Advice on whether to get ghosties

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 12:53 PM PST

Hi all,

I currently have a 54L (14 US Gal) tank with amano shrimp and cherry shrimp (about 15 in total).

I've been wandering whether to order ghost shrimp online or not (my local LFS don't currently stock them). Online advice seems mixed, with some sources saying that ghost shrimp could attack/eat young cherry shrimp?

Have any of you got experience/knowledge on the matter?

Thanks in advance

Looking to make a decent tank, do I have everything I need?

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 02:14 PM PST

Hi everyone! I'm relatively new to owning shrimp (started last year) and had a...pretty unsuccessful tank. I didn't really know what I was doing and got my info from a lot of different shrimp forums which ended up being confusing. So this year I want to restart it! On my shopping list I have sand substrate, live plants, water conditioner and a freshwater testing kit. Does everything here sound ok? Should I swap out live plants with fake? I have a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and light and I only plan on keeping 2 cherry shrimp and snails. Thank you all in advance ♥️

First aquascape/shrimp tank

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 11:48 AM PST

Hello all, this is my first aquascape and in addition my first shrimp tank, I haven't added any shrimp just yet bc I wanted to make sure this setup was appropriate for them. Uns 5n 4.6 gallon tank, Eheim 2211 with foam over the filter inlet, Flexi mini light, tropica aquarium soil substrate and a carpet of dwarf hairgrass (not entirely full yet but getting there). The water parameters are good but I was mainly wondering if this is okay since it only has dwarf hairgrass in it.

This is the tank as of today.

How Often to Feed Shrimp

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 03:52 AM PST

Hello everyone,

I have some blue neos, around 10-20 in a 10 gallon. I am wondering how much and how often I should feed them. I have been alternating between Hikari shrimp cuisine and Bacter AE. Right now I do one, then a day off, then the other, then another day off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ph 6.6-6.8 too low for Neos?

Posted: 04 Feb 2019 11:22 AM PST

Looking to keep neos in my tank. the ph is 6.6-6.8 range. Would using something like a Ph 'neutralier' (brings ph to 7.0) work? Do I need to? The water seems to be on the acidic side of what Neos like.

TIA
