Goldfish - Aquariums - I just finished cleaning Pearl’s and Popeye’s tank. I’ll be upgrading soon, but I need some advice. Should I transfer my sand over to the new tank, or should I go bare-bottom? |

I just wanted to get my son a little goldfish Posted: 14 Jan 2019 05:49 PM PST I wanted to get my son a dog but can't because we rent, so decided on a goldfish. Now I had one when I was a kid, he lived 5years or so, an orange telescope. Hate to say it but he was in pretty poor conditions, maybe a three gallon tank. I didn't know any better. I was determined to not make the same mistakes this time. I went and dug an old acrylic tank someone had posted on Craigslist out of a trash heap. This place was a dump, total drug den. I was a little sketched out. I survived, cleaned out the rat turds, bleached the daylights out of the whole thing and brought the stand back to life as much as possible. Went to the local fish store and jury rigged this tank up with filter bio media and the works it's not perfect but it's cycled and water parameters are stable. I'm super happy with the outcome! Really this sub has been my best source for info so thank you all. I have a couple questions to ask. This tank holds 69 gallons according to my measurements. There's a filter built in the back, so swimming room is more like 55 or 60 I'm guessing. It has 5 small fancies now. Will It eventually become crowded? I want to do a goldfish pond next for my backyard, so I can possibly move them in a year or two if needed. Basically the current situation is my son is mildly interested, and I am completely obsessed, but loving it too. Here's some pics [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 04:41 PM PST Hello, Just learn that the electricity will be cut for 4 hours where I live 2 days from now. I got 2 Goldfish in a 55g. Are 4 hours too long to go without power? What about my filter and the cycle, is there anything that I should do to protect the aquarium. I try looking online, but they only seem to take about multiple days power cut. Thank in advance.
