Ive been cycling my new tank for almost a month. I was gonna fill it up with plants in a few weeks and then get my fish sometime next month but i missed my exit on the highway the other day and i was turning around in a petshop driveway and thought I'd "just look". Meet Alcyoneus.
I got my friend into bettas! She wanted a cat but her family said no, so I gave her the idea of having a fish. I'm giving her some substrate and live plants and a temporary 3.5 gallon, soon he'll have a 5 gallon! I'm so proud of my friend :)
I meant to post him sooner but I got him from PetSmart 2 weeks ago. I got him in a 38 gallon tank with platys guppies Buenos Aires Tetras, 2 otos and 3 Dojo Loaches. He gets along with everyone and he's the chilliest betta I ever had! Everyone meet Poseidon! And yes a tetra did photo bomb me
Picked up my first betta yesterday. Love him, especially considering I paid $7 at my LFS.
Nangi (yes the yoga elephant in zootopia) was neglected at petco and was essentially starving when I brought him home. He spent nearly two weeks at the top of the water on his side. This is him today in his favorite places. We can swim the whole tank and getting stronger by the day!
Why my boy got claws? Is this anything to worry about? Can't find info anywhere. On his left ventral fin.
I’ve had Chappy for 3 weeks now and he’s starting to get flecks of blue and green along his back and tail. I can’t wait to compare how he looks in a few more weeks!

I am going to put down one of my favorite bettas with clove oil. He has been infected with dropsy, and I know they don't live forever, but why so soon. He had such a personality. I would watch him swim around and play all day. I tried to give him the best life he could ever live, and I feel that I did so. But I don't know want him to go. Not now, not ever. I wish this illness could just go away. But I know that will never happen. You were the best fish I could've asked for. And I hope he's way happier wherever he is going. After I put him down. I am going to bury him with his favorite plant. He would always use it as a hammock and he seemed so happy with it. He will rest on it for eternity, like he rested on it every night. Goodbye comet...
