Looking for cerith snails

Posted: 16 May 2020 08:18 PM PDT

Does anyone know where I can order some Cerith snails that don't cost me 50$+ including shipping. I don't need 25-100 I only need like 5-8 snails. I see them on eBay for cheap with free shipping but I don't need 100 snails and I have no idea what to do with the rest of them.

Advice for a returning hobbist?

Posted: 16 May 2020 08:11 PM PDT

Hi all,

I was hoping you might be able to offer me some advice on getting back into the reef tank hobby. I had a 60gal reef tank in high school (20+ years ago) and really enjoyed it. I had an anemone, some soft corals, a pistol shrimp, a maroon clown, coral beauty angel, and a few other little critters here and there.
Now I'm finally at a place in life (married, own a house, 2 kids, etc) where I think I could get back into it. And COVID-19 has got me looking for good home hobbies and ways to support my local business community.
I'm thinking of getting either a Red Sea XL425 or a Red Sea Max S-400 for the tank. My goal would be a few fish, some pretty but not too challenging corals, an anemone with a maroon clown and a cool looking clam. Here's the advice I'm looking for:

  • Any thoughts on those tanks? Any competitors I should consider?
  • Any recommendations on brands for pumps, heaters, chillers?
  • Any book or blog recommendations for how to get caught up on all that's changed in the past 20 years? (It seems quite a lot has changed)
  • Any suggestions on how to refresh my water chemistry and testing knowledge?
  • Any suggestions on where to read up on cycling my tank and how to prep for corals over the coming months?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

Biocube 29 vs 32?

Posted: 16 May 2020 05:55 PM PDT

So long story short, I broke the used biocube 29 I just got while trying to take the rim off. I'd already ordered a media basket and refugium mod for it so I'm really beat up about it.

Does the 32 fit on the same stand as the 29? That's about the only thing that could even kind of salvage this situation. :')

I know my basket & fuge will be a little short, but they should at least fit in there, I think.
